The plant taxonomy section

The Plant Taxonomy Section is located in the oldest part of the Garden and its area covers 2,5 ha. The plant collection of ca. 2000 species gathered here serves mostly for the didactic purpose. Its main goal is to present the richness and diversity of the plants' world as well as the taxonomic rank of plants (classes, orders, family, genus, species). The regular system of plots, characteristic of old botanical gardens, has been maintained here from the very beginning. Thanks to the collected plants, a Herbaceous Garden has been created and composed of medicinal, culinary and oil-giving species.
